Ayden Eli Frances Tannehill came to Battle Creek Public Schools as an eighth grader. He has been active in one act play production for three years. Outside of school, Eli enjoys reading and playing video games. He listed his favorite staff member as Mr. Junior Aguilar, stating, “His teaching feels more like a conversation rather than a traditional lecture.” Eli also named anatomy as his favorite class because it is adequately challenging and intriguing while not feeling like a hassle. When asked to name a favorite memory from his time at BCHS, Eli stated that he will always remember when he had to dissect cats in anatomy. He mentioned, “It was super cool to see all the muscles.” He also thought it was hilarious seeing people's faces when he talked about it. At this time, Eli is undecided about his future after graduation.

Elizabeth Louise Weed, daughter of Kelly and Darrell Weed, has attended Battle Creek Public Schools for all thirteen years of her education. Lizzie was active in track for one year. She also participated in band, speech, art, one act play production, and student council during high school. In addition, she served as a trailblazer and was named Student of the Month. For her efforts in one act play production, she received the Best Underclassmen Actress Award. Outside of school, Lizzie enjoys playing softball, and she has held a part time job at Dollar General for the past year. When asked to name a favorite staff member, Lizzie listed three: Mrs. Rebecca Anderson, Mrs. Brianna O’Brien, and Mrs. Stephanie Nelson. She mentioned that Mrs. Nelson makes art class fun and that she gets to be herself in class. After graduation, Lizzie plans to attend Northeast Community College. Her goal is to publish a book before she is 21.

Lane Gregory Fickler, son of Michaelle and Gregory Fickler, attended Battle Creek Public Schools for all thirteen years of his education. Lane listed his favorite staff members as Mrs. Janet Miller and Mrs. Kim Easland, stating, “I like working on the Chromebook with Mrs. Miller, and I enjoy working on my speech with Mrs. Easland.” Lane added that he likes all of his classes and learning new things. In his freetime, Lane enjoys painting, doing crafts, playing games, and watching videos and movies. He also has a snowglobe collection. Lane loves spending time with his family and with his dog and cat. He also likes to grow pumpkins and flowers in his garden. After graduation, Lane plans to work from home while helping his family. He mentioned that he greatly enjoys living in the country.

Cameron Homer Allen Korth, son of Tara Buell-Korth and Chad Korth, attended Christ Lutheran School before coming to Battle Creek Public Schools in the third grade. He is a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. Cameron was active in football, basketball, and track during all four years of high school. As a junior, he was a state medalist in track, claiming hardware in both the 4x400 meter relay and the triple jump. He also received academic all-state honors for his efforts in athletics. Cameron was an All State honorable mention honoree. Aside from sports, Cameron served as a trailblazer for two years, and he is a member of the National Honor Society. Cameron has been selected as Character and Student of the Month on four occasions. For his efforts in school, he was on the A Honor Roll and received an award for perfect attendance. When asked to name a favorite teacher at BCHS, Cameron named Mr. Jonah Heng, stating, “He allowed me to be creative with my own designs and videos.” Cameron listed his favorite class as physics because students find solutions to real world problems. Cameron mentioned that one of his fondest memories from his time in high school is getting fifth place at state in the triple jump. He said, “It showed me that all the hard work I put in paid off.” Outside of school, Cameron enjoys golfing, playing video games, and helping around the farm. After graduation Cameron plans to attend college, but at this time, he is unsure which campus he will take on. While there, he will major in business.

Parker Michael Strom, son of Waylon and Michela Strom, attended Battle Creek Public Schools for all thirteen years of his education. Parker was a three sport athlete, participating in football and basketball for four years and track and field for three seasons. In addition, he golfed one season. Aside from athletics, Parker served as a trailblazer. Parker listed his favorite staff member as Mr. Mike Couch, stating, “He is very enjoyable to be around and quite engaging.” Parker’s favorite class, building construction, is enjoyable because he wants to pursue a career in the industry after high school. For his efforts in and out of the classroom, Parker was presented with the Activities Director Leadership Award, and he was chosen as Character Student of the Month. Outside of school, Parker likes to spend his free time hunting and fishing, especially at his family’s cabin hear Lynch. He also spent much of his free time in high school mowing for Zach Westerman’s mowing business. He also enjoys working on projects that relate to building construction. After graduation, Parker plans to attend Northeast Community College in Norfolk where he will earn an associate’s degree in building construction.

Lauren Nicole Lutt, daughter of Chris and Kristy Lutt, attended St. John Lutheran School in Battle Creek before coming to Battle Creek High School at the start of her freshman year. She is an active member of St. John Lutheran Church and the LIGHT Youth Group in Battle Creek. Lauren was active in volleyball and track and field during during all four years of high school. She also participated in basketball and dance for two years. In volleyball, Lauren served as one of the team captains her senior year and was named to the Academic All State list. Aside from sports, Lauren was involved in student council, FCCLA, and served as a trailblazer. She was vice president of her class as a sophomore and president during her junior and senior years. Lauren is also a member of the National Honor Society, serving as the historian her junior year and president her senior year. For her efforts in the classroom, Lauren was on the A Honor Roll throughout high school, and she was selected as Student of the Month on four occasions. When asked to name a fondest memory from her time at BCHS, Lauren mentioned the class competitions during homecoming week as well as the lip sync battle. Lauren listed Mrs. Angela Gray and Mrs. Stephanie Nelson as her favorite teachers because they were always supportive, encouraging, and developed a strong relationship with students. In addition, she named yearbook and art as her favorite subjects because they allow her to be creative and spend time with her friends. Outside of school, Lauren enjoys camping, boating, and spending time with friends and family. She is active in the Deer Creek 4-H Club and annually completes projects. Currently, Lauren is a hostess at Goody’s Grill in Battle Creek, and she plans to work as a CNA this summer. After graduation, Lauren plans to pursue a career in nursing and will attend the University of Nebraska at Kearney for her prerequisites. She will complete her bachelor's program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Landon James Weinandt, son of Myron and Jennifer Weinandt, attended Beadle Elementary School in Yankton, South Dakota, before coming to Battle Creek Public Schools in third grade. Landon is an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Battle Creek. While at BCHS, Landon was active in football and speech during all four years. He served as a captain for the football squad this past fall. For his efforts on the gridiron, he was named to the all-district team and was a Norfolk Daily News Second Team honoree. Landon also participated in track and field for two seasons before switching to golf for his junior and senior seasons. In school, Landon was on the A Honor Roll throughout high school and was selected as Student of the Month on several occasions. Outside of school, Landon enjoys hunting, fishing, and golfing. He also enjoys running, and he received runner-up honors in the Laugh-and-a-Half Marathon in the 16-18 age division. In his free time, he works at S&W Construction, a job he has held for two years. Landon listed his favorite teacher as Mr. Taylor Baumert, saying that he does a great job of keeping everyone engaged and makes his requirements crystal clear. When asked to name a favorite subject, Landon mentioned Spanish because it gives insight into how other cultures live and talk to their elders, peers, and family. He also gave credit to Spanish instructor, Mrs. Jenni Frey as she teaches the language well and helps students develop an understanding for it. Landon’s fondest memory of his time at BCHS was going to McDonald’s after football games and eating with the team. He added that this was a time to hangout with people he may not normally talk to in school. Landon mentioned a meaningful Bible verse that has helped him a lot this past year: Isaiah 41:10 ~ “I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” After graduation, Landon plans to pursue a bachelor's degree in biology and a minor in Spanish at the University of South Dakota. He then will attend medical school to become a general surgeon.

Trenton David Uhlir, son of Todd and Kari Uhlir, attended Montessori Circle of Friends Preschool and Lincoln Montessori Elementary in Norfolk before coming to Battle Creek in the seventh grade. He attended Battle Creek High School for the remainder of his education. He is a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Trent was active in football and track during all four years of high school, serving as a team captain in football his senior year. Trent was named Offensive Player of the Year on three occasions, and he was selected to the All State and All District football teams on three occasions. For his efforts in track, Trent holds the school record for men’s shot put and discus. He has qualified for the Nebraska State Track and Field Championships each year, medaling in both events. He was a state runner-up in the discus his sophomore and junior years and a state runner-up in the shot put his junior year. This past March Trent competed in the Nike Indoor National Championship for shot put, taking home third place to become a Nike All-American. For his efforts in athletics, Trent was selected as the 2023 Battle Creek Male Athlete of the Year. Aside from sports, Trent has been a trailblazer for the past two years and was named Student of the Month his senior year. He served as vice president of his class during his senior year. For two years, Trent was a member of the FFA program. In the fall,Trent was inducted into the National Honor Society. When asked to name a favorite staff member, Trent listed Mr. Ryan Heller, stating, “He made math very enjoyable, and the learning environment was always fun.” Trent also mentioned that Mr. Schmidt brightens his day by saying good morning everyday. Trent named shop as his favorite class as he “gets to work with his hands to make cool things.” When asked to name his fondest memory as a high school student, Trent mentioned that he greatly enjoys grilling burgers after his events at track meets. Outside of school, Trent enjoys playing golf, hunting, and fishing. Over the summer months, Trent worked for Associated Wholesale Grocers as an order selector, but he recently started working for Hausmann Construction. After graduation, Trent plans to attend the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where he will play football for the Cornhuskers while pursuing a degree in nutrition science. From there, he plans to go to medical school in hopes to become an orthopedic surgeon.

Taylynn Lea Aldag, daughter of Melinda Aldag and Jay Aldag, attended Norfolk Public Schools through the seventh grade before coming to Battle Creek Public Schools where she remained for the rest of her education. She is a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. Taylynn was active in volleyball and track during all four years of high school, and she participated in basketball and cheer for one year each. Aside from athletics, Taylynn was active in choir and one act play production throughout high school, and she participated in speech for two seasons. She was a member of the student council for one year and served as the choir president this year after serving as choir vice president for two years. When asked to name a favorite teacher, Taylynn named Mrs. Dawn Rugg from Westside Elementary in Norfolk, saying, “Mrs. Rugg sparked my love for music at a young age by convincing me to sing at the first grade talent show.” Taylynn added that Mrs. Rugg encouraged her to chase after her dreams and to believe in herself. Taylynn mentioned that English IV was her favorite class because Mrs.Leigha Kern always provides good books to read and makes class fun but educational.Taylynn mentioned that her fondest memory of her time at BCHS was her senior blaze day at Kelly’s Country Club. Outside of school, Taylynn enjoys hanging out with friends and family, going to church events, and singing at open mic nights. She is going on three years working for Uncle Jarrol’s in Norfolk. After graduation, Taylynn plans to attend Northeast Community College in Norfolk to begin coursework toward a degree in business administration with a minor in marketing. She plans to eventually transfer to a four year college to finish.

Josiah Allen Volk, son of Ryan and Ashley Volk, attended Battle Creek Public Schools for all thirteen years of his education. He is an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. Josiah participated in golf for three years and football for all four years of high school. In addition, he also ran track and played basketball for one season each. He was recognized at the athletic banquet for being a scholar athlete, and he also received recognition for being a three sport athlete. Aside from athletics, Josiah has been a Trailblazer, and he was selected as Student of the Month and Character Student of the Month. When asked to name a favorite teacher, Josiah listed Mr. Mike Couch. He added that his favorite class is Personal Finance because he gets to learn financial skills that he will need in the future. Outside of school, Josiah enjoys helping out on his family’s farm, hunting, working on his truck, and golfing with friends. After graduation, Josiah plans to attend Wayne State College to work toward a career in accounting.

Tucker Joseph Daniel Kirby, son of Dan and Sherri Kirby, attended St. John Lutheran School in Battle Creek from preschool through 8th grade. He went to Lutheran High Northeast in Norfolk for one year before coming to Battle Creek High School as a sophomore. He is a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Tucker was active in football for two seasons, and he golfed all four years of high school. In addition, he represented Battle Creek at the 2023 Cornhusker Boys State. When Tucker was asked to name a favorite teacher at BCHS, he mentioned Mr. Junior Aguilar, stating that Mr. Aguilar is very relatable and makes chemistry easy to understand.Tucker listed his favorite subject of study as digital media with Mr. Jonah Heng. Outside of school, Tucker likes to hang out with his friends and write his own music. After graduation, Tucker plans to attend Northeast Community College in Norfolk. He later plans to transfer to the University of Nebraska in Lincoln to pursue a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Tucker hopes to eventually become a financial advisor.
